Directed by Raoul Walsh
Starring Rock Hudson, Julie Adams, Mary Castle, John McIntire, Hugh O’Brian, Dennis Weaver, Forrest Lewis, Lee Van Cleef, Glenn Strange
Next up from Explosive Media is Raoul Walsh’s The Lawless Breed (1953), coming to DVD and Blu-Ray (region free!) in September.
It’s a pretty inaccurate story of the outlaw John Wesley Hardin, played by Rock Hudson. The manuscript for his autobiography is used to launch the picture as a series of flashbacks.
With Walsh’s typical no-nonsense, propulsive direction, a really strong cast and incredible Technicolor photography from Irving Glassberg (which will really be something to see in high definition), The Lawless Breed plays as a better movie than it actually is. Highly recommended.
Just got a confirmation that HELL CANYON OUTLAWS is on it’s way from the UK ,so I will let everyone know if the BLU RAY is good or not.I just bought HUNTER with Steve Mc Queen from Imprint.I got it for 20% off from JB HI FI.Can’t wait to watch it.
Hi Graham,
I’ve just ordered HELL CANYON OUTLAWS from Amazon.de
so now FWOTF readers will have TWO opinions on the quality and
if it’s worth shelling out the cash.
I’m intrigued that you managed to get this disc from the UK I cannot find
a UK dealer that’s stocking this item,
I already have Imprint’s THE HUNTER and am pleased with the quality
I just hope TOM HORN is not too long coming on Blu Ray.
The Warner Archive releases seem to be dwindling-if the label ceases to
exist there will be dozens of companies more than happy to dip into
the Warners back catalogue. Criterion already release Warners titles.,
