Congrats!!!
Best wishes,
Laura
Good on you Toby! There’s something very satisfying about seeing those hits adding up, isn’t there?
Thanks Colin (and Laura).
The numbers are indeed satisfying. Working in advertising, I see web numbers all the time — and hear plenty of cheering or whining about them.
Some of our clients would love to see numbers like this crazy blog is getting.
Congratulations! How’d you get so many hits?!
You’ve already pulled ahead of me … and I’ve been around twice as long! Sounds like I need some of your SEO expertise … or else more 50s westerns on my blog. Time to pull out those GUNSMOKE DVDs, I guess!
The cats at MGM/UA must have anticipated your 150,000 hits
as they have a bumper crop of releases in August in their
MOD/DVD-R series.
THE BROKEN STAR (Lesley Selander) Howard Duff,Bill Williams
REBEL IN TOWN (Alfred Werker) John Payne,Ruth Roman,Ben Cooper
THE OUTLAWS SON (Lesley Selander) Dane Clark,Ellen Drew,Ben Cooper
THE IRON SHERIFF (Sidney Salkow) Sterling Hayden,Kent Taylor
The first three titles are all Bel-Air produictions;MGM/UA are really
on a Bel-Air kick at the moment.
They are also dipping their toes into B-Western territory with the
1943 epic “Death Valley Rangers” starring Ken Maynard,Hoot Gibson
and Bob Steele!
Also of interest to genre buffs are the following:
“Raiders of The Seven Seas” A most engaging pirate romp with
John Payne,Donna Reed and Lon Chaney plus splendid villian turns
from Tony Curusoe,Henry Brandon and Gerald Mohr
“Master Of The World” William Witneys Jules Verne Sci-Fi with
Vincent Price and Charles Bronson
“The Glory Stompers” cultish biker flick with Jody McCrea,Dennis Hopper
and Jock Mahoney
Last but not least “The Steel Lady” with Rod Cameron,Tab Hunter
and John Dehner!
Heres to the next 150,000 hits and thanks for putting up with this
mad Limey!
Broken Star is pretty good. It used to be available on Hulu, which is where I saw it. I’m a big Selander fan — watch enough of those Tim Holt pictures, and anybody would be.
Been wanting to see Rebel In Town.
Haven’t seen Outlaw’s Son. Selander again.
Used to have a 16mm print of The Iron Sheriff. Should’ve kept it.
Rebel In Town is lit and shot like classic Noir;not surprising since
director Alfred Werkers background was mainly in thrillers.
Film has a good role for James Griffith as a very fair-minded
sheriff. Only drawbacks;the jaunty title song and the lynch mob
come on like the villagers in a Universal Frankenstein flick!
Sadly,The Steel Lady would appear to only survive in black &
white,I was kinda looking forward to that one!
I’ll have to snag a copy of Rebel In Town. A decent part for James Griffith is always worth seeking out.
And I’ll watch ANYTHING Hank Worden or Timothy Carey ever did.
Toby, when you see “Rebel In Town” note the very minor role
Ben Johnson has in the film. This was his “comeback” after a couple of
years on the Rodeo circuit. Bel-Air used him again a couple of times and
gave him his own show with the interesting “Fort Bowie”
Impressive cast also includes J Carrol Naish and John Smith (another
Bel-Air regular). In any case film is far more interesting than all those
splashy big budget Westerns Payne did for Pine-Thomas.
