Warner Bros. is bringing their new restoration of Howard Hawks’ Rio Bravo (1959) to 4K disc in July. Haven’t seen any info on a new DVD or Blu-Ray. This is my favorite Western and it has never been all that stellar-looking on video, so I’m really stoked about this. Hope and pray it doesn’t have that sickly yellow tint that infects so many restorations of older films lately.
Thanks to Dick Vincent for the news.
Looking forward to it. I’ve watched some of what I assume is the new 4k master on HBO/MAX. Looks clean as a whistle and the best it has looked but I swear its similar in color to the I think over criticized Blu. I wonder if ‘Bravo’ can look only so good.
I will buy it if a BL RAY is included and the deleted scenes are there, otherwise I already have the BLU RAY.
Toby, RIO BRAVO(filmed 1958, released 1959) was the first movie that I taped off of the air, back in the 1980’s. I thought time shifting was a great thing. Tape it and watch it later and keep it for viewing whenever you wanted to.
I have seen a few ads for this release and it liiks like it is 4K ULTRA only as there is only 1 disc .There will most likely be extras but the running time is 141 mins so no extra footage.
