From Paula, who runs the terrific Ben Johnson Fan page —
The Ben Johnson Fan Page, which has been hosted by Shutterfly for the past 12-1/2 years, has moved, as Shutterfly will be discontinuing its “share sites” (webpage hosting) service on March 27.
The new address is
benjohnsonfanspage.com
The new site is a work in progress and many items from the Shutterfly page still need to be reposted. This process will be ongoing for some time. Graphics are generic for now but eventually we’ll have something more appealing and Western-oriented.
To visit the new page, click either the link above or the photo from The Wild Bunch (1969).
Hi Paula,
Thanks for the new link to Ben’s site.
As I recall you also admire David Carradine and I just thought I’d mention that Imprint Australia are releasing on Blu Ray BUS RILEY’S BACK IN TOWN where David had an early role. I understand, unless I’m mistaken this is a World first as far as DVD or Blu Ray releases go.
Imprint Blu Ray’s are region free.
I have a region-free player. 😁 Films released by Imprint have a habit of showing up in the U.S. before too long, and since this one is a Universal production, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kino Lorber released it. Speaking of KL, they just announced the second Audie Murphy collection, with Sierra, Kansas Raiders, and Destry.
Thanks Paula but Oh Drat I’ve already got those three on Euro Blu Ray’s. Sidonis France have RIDE CLEAR OF DIABLO on Blu Ray soon. My “most wanted” Audie on Blu Ray is THE KID FROM TEXAS pretty underrated I thought.
Great actor to watch and as we say in Australia-a real True Blue.I have been lost in Cyber space lately and real hard for a not used to computer tech Baby Boomer to get back in.
If you go to THE BEN JOHNSON FAN PAGE you will see that CBS and PARAMOUNT have announced THE COMPLETE SERIES OF BONANZA on May 33 rd.This release looks massive and includes an extra disc containing two and a half of special features.Once on the fan page click on BONANZA and it will take you to the DIGITAL BITS where you can read all about it.You may need a wagon to fit this set into your collection.
Now CBS/PARAMOUNT,how about THE COMPLETE SERIES of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES.
Graham, that is quite some news about THE COMPLETE SERIES OF BONANZA(1959-1973). That is 431 episodes overall. I have the first six seasons on DVD and those were some of the good ones.
I remember well the “Top Hand” episode, which first aired on January 24, 1971. Ben Johnson was excellent, and this was one of the best of the later episodes. It was filmed on location in Arizona and Haskell Boggs’ photography was really good. Veteran stuntman Richard Farnsworth was also acting in this episode along with a lot of other veteran stuntmen acting as the trail drive crew.
They were Jerry Gatlin, Bill Clark, Eddie Juaregui, Hal Burton, Steve de France, and Neil Summers.
Walter, I have seasons 2,6,8,9,10 of BONANZA .Because of lack of shelf space I probably won’t be double dipping.I bought the complete series from Germany and decided to return it because there were loose discs and it was hard to work out the episodes .In fairness to that company, I believe they have repackaged them in cases with gatefolds in one big box similar to this CBS/PARAMOUNT release.
