Four Guns To The Border (1954) is an excellent 50s Western from Universal International. It’s been a hard one to track down, but our friends at Explosive Media are taking care of that. It’s coming to Blu-Ray in December.
This picture gave actor Richard Carlson one of his few directing credits. He does a tremendous job. Wish he’d done more. Four Guns To The Border has a great cast, gorgeous color and will be terrific on Blu-Ray. Can’t wait!
Thanks to John Knight for the tip!
Toby, this is really good news, because FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER(1954) is one of my favorite Western Movies.
Thanks John K. for keeping us up to date. Will the movie be released in an all region format?
Toby, will FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER receive a chapter in your upcoming book?
Toby, my memory went into a fog. I know that FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER doesn’t receive a chapter in your book. I realize that you can’t write about everyone’s favorites.
Look forward to your FIFTIES book.
This is one of the ones it hurt to take out. It has so much going for it — its production history is pretty interesting, too.
A big thanks to Ulrich and everyone else at Explosive Media for this one. Looking forward to it.
Toby, I agree that FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER has a lot going for it. I recall first viewing it on Memphis’ WHBQ Channel 13 DIALING FOR DOLLARS MOVIE in 1973. It was aired a lot during the 1970’s.
The movie’s source material was a short Story titled “In Victorio’s Country” written by Louis L’ Amour for the June 1949 issue of GIANT WESTERN MAGAZINE. Later it was one of nine L’ Amour short stories in the 1995 Bantam Books publication VALLEY OF THE SUN. L’ Amour expanded the story into a book titled HIGH LONESOME(1962).
Thanks to Ulrich Bruckner’s Zug, Switzerland based Explosive Media for releasing this well worth viewing Western movie on Blu-ray.
Wow. This is great news for this underrated western. Watching Colleen Miller in HD is going to be a treat.
Thanks Toby & John !
Cole, I agree with you about FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER being underrated, it should be better known and I hope it sells well on Blu-ray. Colleen Miller, is still with us and she is 89 years young.
FOUR GUNS TO THE BORDER has a good story, cast, direction, and color photography. This movie has a lot going for it.
