Gloria Henry
(April 2, 1923 – April 3, 2021)
Gloria Henry, who most people will remember from TV as the mom of Dennis The Menace, has passed away at 98.
Us Western fans, we know her from Strawberry Roan (1948, above, with Jack Holt and Gene Autry), Lightning Guns (1950) with Charles Starrett and Fritz Lang’s Rancho Notorious (1952).

She was really adorable.
Toby, like most that remember her, I’ll always remember her as Alice Mitchell from DENNIS THE MENACE(1959-63). She was talented and beautiful.

Those early scenes in Rancho Notorious are so powerful, and she plays them very, very well. It’s a very Fritz Lang-y sequence, and she helps make sure it packs the proper wallop. I’ll always remember her for that.
It was nice bonus to be able to feature Jack Holt here!
Toby, I need to pull out and view RANCH NOTORIOUS(filmed 1951, released 1952) again, because it has been awhile.
You do, there’s nothing else quite like it. It gets a chapter in my book, so I’m a big fan of it.
