The new year, and each and every morning, is getting off to a great start. COZI TV, which brings lots of cool old shows to NBC stations (5.2 here in Raleigh) has added four episodes of The Lone Ranger to their morning lineup.
What a great way to start the day, though it has really slowed down my morning routine.
I could not think of a better way to start the New Year!
What a great way to start any day. Hi-Yo Silver!
Jerry ,have you visited you friends in Western Australia yet?
Hi Graham! Happy New Year, my friend.
We have it all booked now. We visit Western Australia end of October later this year. Very much looking forward to it.
Jerry ,you’d better pack the T shirts and shorts .Pretty hot over here at the moment .My brother in law and nephew who spent most of their lives in OZ but who now live in the UK are visiting Australia for shows. They are entertainers.Happy Holidays.
Jerry,OOps ,just noticed October ,but it will be Spring then and starting to warm up.
Yup, Spring in Oz is about right for us!
Alpha is putting out a combo DVD of 1956’s I KILLED WILD BILL HICKOCK and 1962’s SHOOT OUT AT BIG SAG.
The artwork for ESC’s BORDER RIVER is up on their website, and
very nice it looks too.
As far as I can tell, and this is no way concrete BORDER RIVER and
BADLANDS OF DAKOTA hits the streets in March.
This is followed by LAST OF THE MOHICANS (1936) and KIT CARSON
in April then GUNFIGHT AT BLACK HORSE CANYON (TVM) and
THE YELLOW MOUNTAIN in May..so for the time being it looks like
2 a month from ESC.
Twilight Time have just announced THE RIVER’S EDGE in March
on Blu Ray certainly the last truly great Allan Dwan picture.
We seem to be getting a lot of Ray Milland in high-def lately and that’s
no bad thing.
Hi John, ESC said in a recent french interview that they were going a the rate of 2 westerns per month. Depending on the sales, they will decide whether to continue that way in 2020.
Warner Brothers archives are releasing a 1938 technicolor Dick Foran movie that takes him away from acting as a cowboy to wearing a red coat as a Royal Canadian Mountie.
The film is THE HEART OF THE NORTH.
Hi Cole,
With the huge amount of Westerns Sidonis release geared purely for the
French marketplace I cannot see any reason why the ESC releases should
not be good sellers.
With Kino Lorber’s recent Western releases mainly featuring A List stars
I feel ESC could fill a much needed gap regarding programmer type Westerns.
I see on DVD Classik Elephant’s Blu Ray of DEATH OF A GUNFIGHTER
still seems to be happening….lovely cover art I might add.
Speaking of Kino Lorber their 4K restoration of FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
sounds wonderful, especially with the incredible list of extras.
I see this release has already generated over 230 “likes” on Kino’s Facebook
page.
As I mentioned Facebook I note regarding your recent birthday you are a
mere 25 years old,if so that’s great as you will be able to carry on the
tradition when most of us “old codgers” have gone on to the great video store
in the sky 🙂
Hi John, Releasing Badlands of Dakota on Blu-Ray is a pretty bold move on ESC’s part, one that Sidonis wouldn’t have taken I think.
Let’s hope For a few dollars more gets a better transfer than Kino’s Good, bad and the Ugly.
The birthday isn’t the real one. I am a bit older than that.
However, we will be celebrating the 15th birthday of Western Movies next month.
Hi Cole ,I have seen the artwork for BADLANDS OF DAKOTA on WM ,but I can’t find them on ESC’s site .Do if you know if they will do any collections of these westerns? I have 2 of their releases ,Sam Fuller and James Stewart with Peter Fonda and they are nice and compact ,not too bulky.
gcwe1, ESC did a few boxsets. A few more are expected for the end of 2019 but we won’t know their content until next september.
Hi Cole,
I loved Kino’s TGTB&TU transfer but you are not alone in your
dislike of it. It’s all down to personal taste I guess.
The current spate of DRACULA films appearing all over the place
on Blu Ray are generating an avalanche of flak from the fanboys but from
what I’ve seen,I think they look pretty darn good.,
Many congratulations on Western Movies 15th Birthday…keep up the great
work.
Because of computer problems, I’m testing to see if I can get through to post comments. Walter
It worked walter !
Why was the long ranger taken off cozi tv?
I don’t know, but I sure miss it! Getting ready for work each morning was organized around it.
