Randolph Scott
(January 23, 1898 – March 2, 1987)
Happy birthday to my favorite cowboy star, Randolph Scott. He’s seen above in Man In The Saddle (1951), hanging out with Tennessee Ernie Ford. This is an excellent Scott picture, which you can read all about in a recent post over at Riding The High Country. Or you can stick close to home with A Lawless Street (1955) here.
A big favorite of mine as well.
One of the greats — thanks for the photo. He looks very relaxed!
I just watched Seven Men from Now. It is a great movie.
Firstly, thanks for the link Toby. Also, I recommend readers check out your own article on A Lawless Street – great piece on a classy movie.
And finally, to my eternal shame, I was unaware it was Scott’s birthday, despite being such a big fan of his work.
Thanks for the kind words on my post. That means a lot coming from you.
By the way, today is also Dan Duryea’s birthday.
I’ve played around with the idea of a 50s Westerns calendar — to keep us all straight on such things.
You’re more than welcome buddy!
Dan Duryea, another birthday I was unaware of. The calendar idea would be great if it wasn’t too much hassle, which I suspect it might be. I’ve always wanted to put up a piece on a favorite star/director on their birthday, but seem to miss them all the time.
BTW, I just noticed someone put up this rather nice tribute to Randolph Scott on YouTube –
