Joe Kubert, one of the undisputed masters of the whole comic-book thing, passed away this month.
In the 50s, he worked on a few Western titles, including Jesse James (that’s not his art, he didn’t do the covers). A bound collection of these is available and very worthwhile.
I don’t know that I ever really appreciated Kubert until Tarzan, especially since I wasn’t much into War comics, but I really came to love his art. Great stuff.
His war stuff is really terrific. I read a lot of that stuff as a kid.
Joe kubert was the last great master of the comics it was my favorite, i am sade until 2 weeks. I am a Belgian fans of western anf i like your blog.
please to me you and sorry for my bad english.
There’s a bit of synchronicity, that Fred MacMurray and George Montgomery both starred in different pictures named The Texas Rangers, in the site,
in tandem. As Tector Gorch put it, that’s one behind t’other.
