Forrest Tucker
(February 12, 1919 – October 25, 1986)
To commemorate his birthday, here’s a still of Forrest Tucker from the Regalscope picture The Quiet Gun (1956). One of the better Regals, and one of Tucker’s better parts of his many 50s Westerns, it’s shame it’s so hard to see. (I have a pan-and-scan copy that I can’t make myself watch.)

He was super great as Sgt. O’Rourke in the t.v. series F-Troop !
Memorable as a villain in a number of Randolph Scott movies for Columbia. THE NEVADAN is now available on DVD; if only they’d give us GUNFIGHTERS and CORONER CREEK (available only from Spain). DOOLINS OF OKLAHOMA and THE WALKING HILLS would be nice, too, although Tucker isn’t in them.
He and Scott appeared together in RAGE AT DAWN, which was at one time available from ROAN in a decent anamorphic DVD transfer, but has also been released by a number of other companies in less than stellar full screen condition.
The Roan Rage At Dawn was widescreen from an IB Technicolor print. It was very nice.
There’s a grammatical error on the back of the package.
Very memorable in ” Hellfire ” starring Wild Bill & cross-dressing cowboy / cowgirl ,outlaw, Marie Windsor.
Obviously I’m a big fan, since he’s The Horn Section’s patron saint.
I also think THE QUIET GUN is great, and I like his two 1950 starring vehicles for Republic, ROCK ISLAND TRAIL and particularly CALIFORNIA PASSAGE. As for his supporting roles, I recommend two for Paramount, 1952′s FLAMING FEATHER (with Sterling Hayden) and 1953′s PONY EXPRESS (playing Wild Bill Hickok to Charlton Heston’s Buffalo Bill Cody). Outside the Fifties, he’s great in BARQUERO working with Lee Van Cleef.
