Here’s a stack of photos of Tim Holt, courtesy of Shaeffer Holt, Tim’s grandson.
A Norman Rockwell illustration of Tim for The Magnificent Ambersons (1942).
This publicity photo with Richard “Chito” Martin is probably from The Stagecoach Kid (1949) — judging from the TSK in the lower right corner. The Stagecoach Kid was directed by Lew Landers, who only did a handful of these films among his hundreds of credits — the majority of the RKO Holts were directed by Lesley Selander.

The Holt westerns are top notch. I thought Richard Martin was the most entertaining and natural sidekick I’d ever seen in westerns. I wrote a fan letter to him in 1994 (the only one I’ve ever written) requesting an autograph. He kindly mailed me a studio still with a salutation and signed Warmest Regards, Richard Martin, just a few months before he passed away.
I didn’t know Lew Landers had done any Holts. A director I’ve gotten on to in the last few years and been checking out. Terrific director and seems to be all B movies or low-budget programmers but he seems to give them all he’s got–more than so many directors do with As. I believe Laura will bear this out and those who read her know she’s reviewed quite a few of his films lately.
Terrific stuff, Toby. Thanks
These pics are great, Toby! So nice of his grandson to share, and for you to share as well!
So neat Ken received a still from Richard Martin, I really enjoy him too.
I really liked THUNDER MOUNTAIN which was a Landers-Holt film I saw last fall. It definitely sparked an interest in seeing more of both director and star.
Best wishes,
Laura
