These beautiful Hopalong Cassidy cap pistols (the subject line is what the original box called them) were manufactured by the All Metal Products Co. from Wyandotte, Michigan in 1955. By then, of course, Hoppy was out of theaters (the last of the features was released in 1948) and well-established on TV.
Today, it’s hard to believe kids used to go to the movies wearing these things.

Wow, would love to have just one of those! I’m watching about 1 Hoppy film every 6 weeks now, he’s in rotation with other classic western Sat. matinee movies in my house, Eddie Dean, Tim Holt, Roy Rogers etc. But his films are always ones I look forward to. Eddie Dean? Not so much. Another one I don’t particularly like is Sunset Carson. Some I have only discovered recently that I really do like are Wild Bill Elliott, Tim Holt & Roy Rogers. Whip Wilson isn’t bad either.
But those Hoppy golden guns would be perfect to shoot at the screen with.
One in a box is on display at the Hopalong Cassidy Museum in Cambridge, Ohio.
Jeeeeeeesus,
I used to have a Hoppy gun, but I was so young, I don’t remember what it looked like or what happend to it. Luckily all the Hoppy movies and TV programs are saved!
