Here’s a still from Raoul Walsh’s The Sheriff Of Fractured Jaw (1958), starring Kenneth More and Jayne Mansfield. It’s one I haven’t seen — and really want to.
Fractured Jaw came to mind after watching More in the true classic A Night To Remember (also 1958). Tucker McGuire is also in both films. A Night To Remember is a picture that really holds up — and doesn’t lose its impact — no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
What’s more, with its attention to detail and commitment to authenticity, it’s a fitting tribute to the 1,500 souls lost on the Titanic 100 years ago tonight. Watching it this evening was a powerful experience.

I completely agree with you about A Night to Remember. I just watched it the other day for the second time – it’s truly an excellent film. Even outside of the Titanic details, all the period sets costumes, hairstyles, etc. are some of the most beautiful and accurate I’ve ever seen in a movie.
I’d never heard of The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw, so when I saw the picture at the top of this post I was thinking, “Wait a minute…doesn’t that look like…?” Kenneth More in a Western is about the last thing I’d have imagined!
Kenneth Moore also stars (with Lauren Bacall and Herbert Lom, among others) in the fantastic 1959 “Raj Western”, “North West Frontier”. Even though it’s set in colonial India, its Western pedigree is high: it’s from a screenplay by Frank S Nugent from a story by Patrick “Son of John” Ford.
Really worth tracking down. I’m sure there was a US DVD release a few years back.
There’s a Blu-ray of North West Frontier on the way.
