Back in November, The Jayhawkers (1959) was announced as part of a batch of standard DVD releases coming from Olive Films. That news is a bit sweeter today — Olive has now decided to give the picture an April Blu-ray release as well.
Being that Paramount treated this film to VistaVision and Technicolor, this hi-def release is good news indeed.

Very, very cool to see Olive upping even the likes of obscure, medium-budget westerns to Blu … even though that means I’ll have to buy ‘em instead of get ‘em from the library.
My order’s in at Amazon already.
Pony Express is out on the same day, DVD only. I think I’ll pass on that though; much as I enjoy Charlton Heston, I found the movie a bit of a slog when I last saw it.
Looking forward to getting Jayhawkers. I saw a bad copy on VHS years ago and was once again reminded by how much presence Jeff Chandler had.
Colin, I am of the same opinion as you about PONY EXPRESS…I found it rather boring. And, much as I love many westerns I did not enjoy THE JAYHAWKERS. Just saw it for the first time in the past year. I could not get too interested.
