I’ve heard good things about Rich Hall’s BBC4 documentary How The West Was Lost (2008) — a look at the Western genre and what happened to it.
Anybody seen it? if so, what’d you think?
Then, does anyone know where a copy of this thing can be found?

Actually I find it rather depressing that the two funniest men in England
are both American. (Rich Hall;Reginald D Hunter)
Mr Hall is always entertaining the Western thing was part of a series for
BBC Four;the other two being The Deep South in Movies and Road
Movies. You may not always agree with Rich Hall but he cannot be
faulted on the way he presents things;I love it when he goes into one
of his rants.Rich was certainly born in the wrong era;what a great
Western heavy he would have made in the Fifties;he sort of reminds
me of Jack Elam.
Naturally Rich focused on the giants of the genre;geek that I am I
would have loved to hear his take on George Montgomery,Rod Cameron
Lesley Selander,William Witney and so on.
Rich Hall doing stand-up is a sight to behold he smokes just about
everybody on the circuit today (apart from the aforementioned Mr Hunter!)
Rich Hall used to be on TV here in the U.S. some years ago, I haven’t heard from him in a long while, now I know why, he’s defected. I liked him, but found him only moderately funny. If you think having an American in the UK as the funniest guy, how about us? We have to put up with a Brit as Spiderman!! of all things! Now that’s a real outrage.
If you don’t mind watching an avi file, the Rapidshare links on this page appear to be working:

Indeed it is. Thanks a bunch!
No problem. I saw this when it originally aired and remember liking it an awful lot. Hall knows his stuff and his analysis is never less than interesting. Pretty sure he did another one on how the South is portrayed in movies.
Being from Georgia and living most of my life in North Carolina, the one on the south sounds really interesting, too.
It’s not all Mayberry and Deliverance down here.
Rich Hall is definitely the funniest stand-up comedian on UK TV.
His three BBC documentaries are all worth seeing, all are very funny, and informative; and you can find Rich’s “Dirty South” on You Tube, it’s split into 5 parts. His piece on Southern music from Memphis and the delta will make you want to listen to your old records all over again.
Hopefully one day the BBC will get their act together and present us with a DVD box set of all three Rich Hall specials.
