As part of a celebration of what would’ve been Nicholas Ray’s 100th year (1911 – 1979), the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica is running a handful of his best films. This Friday, it’s Johnny Guitar (1954) — starring Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Scott Brady, Mercedes McCambridge, Ward Bond, Ernest Borgnine, Royal Dano, Paul Fix and more.
One of the best, and certainly one of the most unusual Westerns of the 50s, it’s hard to see on film. Those who can, go!

Amen.
No 50s Westerns fan should go through life without seeing this–and at least once on the big screen if possible. And a great way to celebrate the 100th birthday of one of the greatest American directors, Nicholas Ray.
That gleaming, never sullied white dress gives me nightmares!
