Tonight Turner Classic Movies is running Phil Karlson’s Gunman’s Walk (1958). A prime candidate for the most under-appreciated 50s Western of them all, it kicks off at 8PM (EST) as part of TCM’s birthday tribute to Tab Hunter.
Not available on DVD here in the States, you all really need to check this one out. You’ll thank me for it later.

I have recently seen from an old vhs I had recorded years ago from italian state tv (RAI).
Remained so impressed and thought it deserved the title of one of the best in the fifties, Heflin acted fantastically.
I agree (of course in my modest opinion), it is incredible how undervalued this movie is.
I thank you immediately, it is always beautiful to remember such movies.
A very overlooked item from somewhat cultish director Karlson.
Only downside;the scene where Tab bursts into song in the
saloon warbling a very un-1880 ish ditty.Interesting as a sort of
“Greek Tragedy” Western and sensitive handling of Racial issues.
This certainly should get a DVD release, I recall seeing it on it’s release back in the 50′s and luckily we get it shown on TV here in the UK about 6 times a year. Some others we see pretty frequently on TV which should get DVD release are “The Fortune Hunter” ( John Derek), Red Sundown, Dawn At Socorro (Rory Calhoun), Tension At Table Rock (Richard Egan) and Ride Clear Of Diablo (Audie Murphy) to name just a few. Hunter was great in this Movie and Kathryn Grant looked terrific.
