This Friday, TCM will pay tribute to Audie Murphy, running four of his films. In my opinion, the best of the bunch is The Guns Of Fort Petticoat (1957), which is not only very good, but unavailable on DVD. Don’t miss it.
And don’t forget the new four-picture set, also from the folks at TCM.

Girls with guns … can’t go wrong there! And written by my friend Walter Doniger, later one of the greatest episodic TV directors.
These types of questions from me are probably getting to be quite a cliche:
Did you ever talk to him about this picture?
Actually, “Guns of Fort Petticoat” is available on DVD as “Le Fort de la derniere chance”:

It’s a nice transfer from Sidonis, who do a huge amount of Westerns for the discerning French market.
The Sidonis France version of “Guns Of Fort Petticoat” is indeed a very nice
widescreen transfer as is their version of “Gunmans Walk”
The trouble is the darn things have non-removable subtitles;I do wish Sidonis
would sort this out! I would purchase far more of their product (as I am sure
many others would!) if they could resolve this.
