If you’re out that way — or dedicated/crazy enough to make the drive — be sure to stop by the Harvest Moon Drive-In in Linden, PA for The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966).
The Harvest Moon certainly deserves the support of movie nuts everywhere for bringing classic films back to the drive-in.
Coming this summer is a dusk-to-dawn event featuring Monte Hellman’s Two-Lane Blacktop (1971).

Linden is kind of out of the way, isn’t it? I suppose one could use the movie as an excuse to pass through Gettysburg. I used GB&U as an opportunity to look at the Sibley Civil War fiasco–fascinating stuff. Sibley even makes a cameo in the picture, but he looked reasonably sober–so much for accuracy. There’s a 20-minute chunk of a longer documentary on the DVD about the Sibley campaign, “The Man Who Lost The Civil War.”
Most of my Civil War history has come from reading up on events referenced in movies. The whole Sibley mess is fascinating.
I’d sure love to see that at the drive-in — and the upcoming Two-Lane Blacktop.
I have been thinking about this, but a quick check on google maps confirms that it’s 3.5 hours from New York, NY to Linden, PA. I’d love to do it, but it’s not in the cards…
Oddly enough, I used to practically live in the drive in at Milford, PA when I was growing up…..
