This is one of the saddest, and certainly strangest, things I’ve come across since this blog started.
Yvette Vickers, seen above with Rory Calhoun in The Saga Of Hemp Brown (1958), was found dead in her Benedict Canyon home. She’d been dead for months. The Los Angeles Times article can be found here.
She was known for her appearances in Playboy and B pictures like Attack Of The Giant Leeches (1959). She also had a great part in Hud (1963).
Thanks, and kudos, to Stephen Bowie who tracked down the real year Miss Vickers was born.

With the week starting off on such a positive note
this really brought me right down.
It just highlights how vunerable older people are when
they live alone!
On the interview with Yvette on the DVD release of
“Attack Of The 50ft Woman” she sounded so vibrant and
had so many interesting stories to tell.
Her credits in TV Westerns were extensive.
Very,very sad!
And actually it turns out to be 1928-2011 (or maybe 2010).
