“Gun That Won The West” is a real hoot and has
the legendary Sam Katzman at his cost-cutting best.
The film is crammed full of stock footage (very good for
a cut & paste job) which looks as if it came from
“Buffalo Bill” which is strange because that was a Fox film.
Dennis Morgan looks ashamed of the whole affair and
Paula Raymond shows none of the promise she showed in “Devils Doorway”Katzman regular Richard Denning is in his element though.The climatic battle scene has thousands
of Native Americans against a few hundred cavalry armed
with the Springfield breech loader but Sams stock footage
has Indians armed with rifles against cavalry armed with
pistols and sabres.This makes a nonesense of the title and the whole film.Great trailer though!
