Haven’t seen Tension At Table Rock (1956). It was directed by Charles Marquis Warren, who I’ve been reading up on lately — his Little Big Horn (1951) is really good (and 1969′s Charro is awful).
But while I can’t say a whole lot about the picture itself, RKO gave Tension At Table Rock an incredible one-sheet. Anybody know who the artist was?

Maybe the same guy that designed the Maypo commercials
Marquis I think is responsible for the quality of the best of Rawhide, and Gunsmoke’s early episodes. It’s interesting finding out about how he was fired from The Virginian even after he’d produced much of the first season–I think they recut much of what he’d done. One very interesting Virginian episode is Sam Fuller’s, starring Lee Marvin, which is loaded with Fullerisms, long reverse tracking shots, a lengthy discourse on journalism and newspapers. Fuller, in his autobiography, claimed that he was given carte blanche by Warren to direct the pilot, but all evidence suggests that his episode was futher along the production schedule.
Long time reader, first time commenter – saw TENSION AT TABLE ROCK this evening, and since I’ve been tracking it ever since I read this article, thought I’d pop in to say its an excellent B-Western thats well worth a watch. Pity I havent been able to find a copy of it anywhere, even my usual haunts for extremely rare films, and this was a TV recording. Would look great in widescreen…
