Elstree Hill Entertainment has announced 7th Cavalry (1956) for DVD release in the UK this month. The company’s other releases include a lot of public domain titles, which makes you wonder what’s happened with the rights to 7th Cavalry.
While not the finest work of its star Randolph Scott or its director Joseph H. Lewis, 7th Cavalry has plenty to recommend it. Good cast. Gorgeous Technicolor — if the transfer’s up to snuff. And it’s a good example of what Scott was doing for Columbia before the Ranown Cycle kicked off.

The Elstree Hill release is poor quality . A pity as it is an interesting story and nice to see Barbara Hale again costarring with Scott.
Apologies, my mistake, the Barbara Hale western I was thinking of was THE OKLAHOMAN ,and of course that wasn’t Randy- it was Joel McRea.
